Let's just say I am blessed...blessed with great kids, great family, and the BEST HUSBAND EVER! He works so hard to provide for his family. He works a full time (40+hours) during the week and on top of that is also a Children's pastor. I'm a stay at home mom, which has its good and bad days! But, i love every moment of it! So many times i find myself saying to him or anyone in general, i just need a wekend away, some time off, a break away every now and then. Usually, a few times a year i get that weekend and its been that way for most of our married life. My husband Joe, so gratefully will give of his time and watch our kids while I have a weekend away. This May we will have been married for 10 years and come to think of it I dont recall a time where Joe has had a weekend getaway! Im the one that usually gets to go away, but when has he ever? This weekend is the annual Ladies In Ministry Retreat. I usually go tho this every year and always look forward to it! I have also been planning to go to this one for quite some time. About a week and a half ago Joe approached me with a question. You see, his brother Josh, is turning thirty this weekend. Josh wanted to go skiing in Ruidoso, N.M. for his birthday. Joe asked me if he could go with his brother and Dad on this trip. The last time Joe has ever been skiing with his family was probably when he was about 14 or 15. Pretty much this trip is probabaly a once in a lifetime trip because all three of them have full time jobs and it his hard for them to take off. So, tomorrow afternoon, Joe, Josh, and their Dad will be leaving for N.M. for two days! Joe deserves this, it's his turn now! Now, some might say," well that's not right." Lana deserves this weekend off. She is at home with the kids all the time and needs a break every now and then. Trust me, i have already gotten looks from people about Joe going this weekend and me not going to the retreat. To those people i would say, "It's just not us women that need the time off..the men/our husbands need time off too once in awhile." Joe deserves this weekend off, even more than I do. I have had my turn many a time. This is the way i look at it..it just wasnt meant for me to go this weekend. Joe had to ask last minute, from his boss to have the time off..which obviously now he got. On top of that, Joe's boss is letting him borrow his ski clothes for the weekend! It's my turn now to bless my husband with this special weekend with his family!
I love you Joe! Have the time of your life! You deserve it!
Happy Birthday Josh--your the best Uncle, brother, and i know your parents would say SON, ever!
I hope you all have a blast!
It's your turn now!
Lana
